You don't have to be wealthy to make a planned gift to the Parkland Humane Society. There are numerous ways to make a charitable contribution that will make a difference in the lives of animals in need. You can personally create a gift that honors your philanthropic intention, while achieving your financial and tax planning goals. Consult with your lawyer or your financial advisor on how you and the PHS can both benefit from a few of the suggestions outlined below.
WILLS AND CHARITABLE BEQUESTS
A bequest is one of the simplest ways to leave a charitable legacy to animals that need your help. Your Will provides the flexibility of specifying exactly how you wish to provide your gift. Bequests may be in the form of a stated dollar amount, a specific item, property, or a percentage of the residuary of an estate.
LIFE INSURANCE
Life insurance is a simple and inexpensive way to provide significant dollars to support animals in need. The options for life insurance as a gift to the Parkland Humane Society are varied. You can assign a percentage of your existing life insurance policy or a new policy can be created exclusively as a gift to the Parkland Humane Society. Ask your financial advisor how this can reduce your estate taxes upon death.
GIFT ANNUITY
Gift annuity represents a lifetime contract between donor and charity. It is a transfer of cash or other property to the PHS and in return the donor receives a guaranteed lifetime annuity of a fixed amount each year and respective tax benefits.
Naming Rights and Buy A Brick
Rooms and kennels can be purchased for a 10 years and bricks (in alloted denominations) for a lifetime. Names of purchasers will be displayed on the Wall of Honour within the shelter. All money given for these 2 programs will go towards the building of the much needed shelter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are just a few options you can take advantage of, that enable the PHS to continue to help and protect animals in need. You may also want to ask your lawyer if a charitable trust is another option you can use to benefit both you and the organization.
