HAILEY

  Location: Parkland Humane Society Inc.
Sex: Female
Breed: Medium Breed Mix
Colour: White
 Age: 9 Months

Hailey is one of those dogs who makes a fantastic first impression. She loves people. She loves attention, she loves kisses and even gives hugs! You could walk into the shelter having never met this dog in your entire life and Hailey will greet you "There you are. I've been worried sick." Hailey is basically the dog version of that aunt at a family reunion who spots you from across the room and starts coming towards you with her arms already open - You're getting hugged & kissed. Now based on Hailey's enthusiastic hugging career you might assume she's an absolute hooligan. Surprise - This dog is ridiculously well behaved & here's the part we are having difficulty processing: she's only 9 months old! At 9 months old most dogs are still making questionable life choices and discovering exciting new ways to inconvenience their humans. Hailey has apparently skipped that phase. Hailey also does very little barking. Apparently nobody informed her that as a 9 month old dog, she is fully entitled to announce passing vehicles, distant noises, squirrels, delivery people and absolutely nothing what so ever. Hailey has reviewed the barking documents and decided: "That seems un-necessary" Does she bark occasionally? Of course, she's still a dog. But overall, she's perfectly content to let other dogs handle neighborhood announcements.
Hailey is bright white, not cream, not off white Printer paper white. She has arrived with factory - installed insulations and appears ready to experience all four Manitoba seasons - including the approximately seven bonus seasons. She is also a lovely medium size.
She walks perfectly on a leash, not "pretty good" not "Good once she settles" Perfectly. You pick the leash up and Hailey suddenly clocks in for her shift at the Department of Professional Walking. She puts on her business blazer and behaves like a complete professional. No pulling, no dragging, no zigzagging across the sidewalk like she's trying to evade the authorities. She just walks beautifully beside you. Hailey is also currently learning her commands. Now does she perform these commands purely out of a deep respect for education and personal development? HAHA No. There are treats involved. Show Hailey a treat and she is very interested in furthering her education. She's eager to learn, food motivated and is figuring things out quickly. Meanwhile, somewhere out there, a three year old dog is eating a throw pillow. Honestly we keep waiting to discover the catch. Maybe she secretly owes money, maybe she has three unpaid parking tickets. We don't know because so far, she's just lovely.
So, if you're looking for a sweet, gentle, remarkably quiet, beautifully behaved 9 months old dog who walks like a dream, is eager to learn, already understands life, comes fully winterized and can apparently be bribed into higher education with snacks Hailey is available for adoption. Come meet her, bring treats. Actually just enter the building Hailey will handle the introductions.
