In the year 2000, a local woman placed an advertisement in the Dauphin Herald asking all those interested in creating a Humane Society to attend a meeting. The turnout was fantastic and included the local animal control officer, a lawyer, and representatives from the veterinarian clinics in Dauphin. A Board of Directors was formed that night and the Parland Humane Society was founded. With the help of a local lawyer, the Parkland Humane Society was incorporated in late 2000.
Today, the Board of Directors still consists of representatives from throughout Parkland interested in making a difference in our community.
