There are many ways for you to get involved with PHSI whether you're wanting to spend some time with the animals, foster a pet, join a committee or share your ideas with the board!
Shelter Volunteer - Come help out at the shelter by feeding & playing with the animals, walking the dogs, and helping keep the facility clean. Fun & easy way to earn a student credit!
Shelter Supervisor - If you are comfortable directing/mentoring volunteers, administering medications, interacting with the public and handling large dogs consider becoming a shelter supervisor! Supervisors can be placed on a weekly schedule, weekend rotation, or just used in case of emergencies. We can always use more supervisors!
Foster Home - We use foster homes for puppies/kittens and dogs/cats that don't acclimate well to the shelter life or when we have limited space. Foster homes are provided with everything they need to care for their foster pet (food, crates, litter, pee pads, etc.) all we ask from you is to provide a loving, temporary home until the animal can find its forever home! For more information on fostering please visit our foster a pet page.
Board Member / Committee Position - We can always use more dedicated individuals on our board or committees. Board / committee members attend monthly board meetings and can choose to take over or help in a specific area of their choice. Currently we are looking for more people to help out on the following committees:
- Cat Committee (filing, transports, intakes)
- Yard Committee (cutting grass & snow blowing)
- Building Committee
- Fundraising Committee
